Some Considerations Touching The Style Of The H. Scriptures

by Barbara Keels
(Ellicott City, MD)

By Robert Boyle. Published in 1668. Cover looks like you would expect the cover of a 340 year old book to look. All pages are in excellent condition-- not torn, not brittle, easily readable. No pages stuck together. Does not appear to have any water damage. I found this in a box of my mother's old things. I have no idea how she came to have it.

I saw a very similar book by Boyle listed on ebay with a starting bid of $360. There were NO bids!

I do love holding in my hands something that pre-dates the American Revolution.

The subject matter of the book does not hold much interest to me, although I understand that Boyle continued to be a deeply religious man in spite of his scientific interests and originality. I believe that this book as well as other writing by Boyle proposes that the Bible and science are not mutually exclusive and that the book asks readers to consider the style and intent of scriptures in coming to a conclusion about whether science and religion can coexist.
