Shamus Awards for Private Detective Books
The Shamus Awards are presented each year by the Private Eye Writers of America (PWA). This organization was founded in 1981 by Robert J. Randisi.
Books accepted for consideration have a professional investigator as the protagonist. This definition excludes mystery books with amateur detectives, police officers, sheriffs or other government agents.
PWA has a quarterly newletter called Reflections In a Private Eye.
The Awards are presented each year at the BoucherCon Mystery Convention. This year they will be in Indianapolis from Oct. 15-18.
