book ratings
by: Bob

Good questions, Brian.

Here's the intention of the ratings. All the 300+ books I rate at least initially appear to have potential. Many of them are an author's first or second book.

The higher the rating the better. I have developed the ratings to try to approximate the future value of a book.

So you'd really want to buy books rated 35 or more if you're paying $25 or so retail for them.

The ratings can change for example if a book wins an award --- the book will obviously have a higher value.

I should caution you that I do not always have full information about a book. Particularly the number of books in a first printing. This can have a great impact on the value of a book.

There are no guarantees here. Just basically a guide to help make collecting decisions.

That's why I have asked for help in researching the books as it is time consuming and the more information that is available to put into the system the more accurate it will be.

Try to buy books as cheaply as possible and buy books you think you would read in the event they don't appreciate in value.
