Poetry of South Africa - Selected Papers from Poetry `74

The "Poetry '74" conference which formed part of the University of Cape Town's 1974 Summer School programme, brought into focus the many divisions in approach among English Poets in S.A..

There are 10 selected essays from the papers presented at conference that outline the situasion and provide essential background to the wealth of new work being published and which has led some to speak of a "renaissance" in South African literature. The text is supplemented by an extensive poetry bibliography, compiled by Cherry William.
