Nebula Awards

The Nebula Awards were first given in 1965. They are sponsored by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc.

The first Nebula Best Novel award went to Frank Herbert for Dune ... one of my favorite science fiction books.

The basic rules for the award are as follows:

- The Best Novel must contain at least 40,000 words

- A book is eligible for 12 months from the month of publication

- Books published in 2008-2009 will be eligible for the 2009 awards which will be presented in 2010

The 2010 convention will be held in Cocoa Beach, Florida from May 14-16.

Here are the final nominees for Best Novel for the 2009 Nebula Awards:

Paolo Bacigulupi ... winner! The Windup Girl  Night Shade Books
