National Book Awards

The National Book Awards began back in 1950. Awards have been given in different categories over the years. Currently there are awards for:
- Fiction
- Non-Fiction
- Poetry
- Young People's Literature

James Jones won the Fiction award in 1952 for From Here to Eternity.

Selection Process

Only publishers can nominate books that are published between Dec. 1st and Nov. 30th. The award is for American citizens and the book must be published in the U.S.
