Janet Evanovich - Mystery Author - Number Mysteries
The mystery novels of Janet Evanovich each use a catchy numberical phrase. The first novel was One for the Dough that came out in 1995. The protagonist is Stephanie Plum, a female bounty hunter.
The books have been very popular best-sellers. Ms. Evanovich has had one novel published each year. Her latest is Lean, Mean, Thirteen. My wife has read a few and has enjoyed them.
I asked Jim back in 1998 about collecting the series. He had the first book but was somewhat neutral about the series. I did not have it and the price was about $75 at the time.
Just like Michael Connelly's first book ... I did not buy it and have regretted it. Now it is around $250. In ten years it has tripled in price.

The following two bar charts show the prices for Ms. Evanovich's first two books. Her first book was popular and she won the John Creasey Best First Crime Novel for it. So Two for the Dough had a much larger printing - as can be seen in the higher supply and much lower prices.
Fearless Fourteen which came out in June 2008 had a first printing of 2 million copies. This was a record until John Grisham's latest book came out with 2.8 million copies of the first printing.
