Further description of the book by: Becky R.
My book's only picture is a very nice but small colored picture of Longfellow inside the front cover. There is no date at all in it, just the publisher's name. There are places where parts of letters in the words didn't print, which makes me think it was printed on a rather primitive press. The cover is very intriguing--it looks like tree bark but is SOOOOO soft. You can feel the ridges of the design, and it feels & looks like it might have some light padding under the cover, because it's a little "puffy".

Courtship of Miles Standish by Longfellow by: Bob
I found a book similar to yours on abebooks.com for sale by Puehse Books for $49.00. Here is the description:
"Hurst & Co n.d. handwritten date inside reads 1858 bound in soft leather the bottom of front cover has some leather missing hand colored lady in bonnett on front cover well worn but intact 6 in by 4 in a unique intriguing little book."
The size is similar to yours. Does yours have a lady in a bonnet on the front?
The Courtship of Miles Standish was written in 1858. Ticknor and Fields of Boston was the original publisher. Hurst reprinted this book around 1900.
Thanks very much for your submission and the picture of the book. Bob
