10 Best Science Fiction Novels I've Read

Of the 10 best science fiction novels that I've read, I only own two. Most are expensive. I looked up the recent prices for these science fiction books on ABE.com.

Older books before 1980 are generally offered in only very good condition. So a fine/fine copy of Dune, for example, would be much higher perhaps twice as expensive.

Here is my list of the ten best science fiction novels that I've read:

Author Book Year Price
Frank Herbert Dune 1965 5000-10000
Robert Heinlein Starship Troopers 1959 3500-4500
Orson Scott Card Ender's Game 1985 2500
Dan Simmons Hyperion 1989 250-350
Orson Scott Card Speaker For The Dead 1986 200-250
Isaac Asimov The God's Themselves 1972 125-200
Peter Hamilton Reality Dysfunction 1996 475-600
Robert Heinlein Red Planet 1949 750-1250
Larry Niven Ringworld 1970 ?
John Scalzi Old Man's War 2004 350

All of these except Red Planet are adult science fiction. I read Red Planet many years ago as a boy of 13. I don't remember all of it and it is dated based on what we know about Mars today. But I really enjoyed it.

If you're interested in more science fiction lists, here is a link to a site with lists of top science fiction and fantasy novels.

Lists like these can give you ideas for both reading and collecting.
